10.03.01 I
just got back from my doctor's appointment....my usual 15 minute check
up lasted like 2 hours today. My doctor said that the baby's heartbeat
was irregular (fluctuating between really fast, to normal, then to really
slow). So I was hooked up to a fetal heart monitor for 20 minutes, and
then had an ultrasound to determine amniotic fluid levels. If the levels
were low, my doctor was going to send me to Labor & Delivery to
induce labor. I was pretty surprised!...the first thing that went through
my mind was, "wow...have the baby today?!" Even though I've
been eagerly anticipating her arrival, I was taken aback by what the
doctor said. I guess when it comes down to it, you'll never be completely
prepared (mentally, that is). Then the second thing that went through
my mind was, "Aric has class tonight...so, no....an induction today
is not a good idea." Yeah, call me practical or selfish or stupid...I
don't care. Luckily the amniotic fluid level was fine, and they just
scheduled me to go back in tomorrow morning for more monitoring. Aric's
worried. I, on the other hand, think the monitor didn't get an accurate
reading. The baby was quite active at the time, and moved around so
much, that at times you'd lose the heartbeat reading completely. Perhaps
I'm in denial. Hmmm. *shrug* Oh, I know I said that I'd keep the icky
details to myself, so if you want to be spared the blood and gore, skip
to the next paragraph. Anyhow, enough about that. Sue and I are getting together for dinner tonight since both our husbands are busy. I figure if anything should happen, I'm in pretty good hands, because Sue's also a doctor. =) Random
thought: I was just watching the Britney Spears video, "I'm A Slave
4 U". *yowza!* She's such a vixen! How old is she again?! She's
hot! |
