Happy 4th of July!

Today was a nice relaxing day. Aric, Ashlyn, and I slept in. We hung around the house, did laundry, had sandwiches while we watched TV, ran some errands, and looked at home improvement stuff at Lowe's. It was such a nice day...even Aric commented on it. And if you know him, he's not a "stop and smell the roses" type of person. =P
We headed over to Ed and Sue's around 4pm and had a nice BBQ with a small group of friends. We had BBQ ribs, Korean short ribs, salad, four types of kimchee, Korean noodles, smoked salmon, rice, fruit, and mochi ice cream. The guys hung out outside manning the grill, while we chatted inside with the lil' ones.

I was surrounded by pregnant women. Grace (Lauren's mom) is due toward the end of this month. She had that "glow" about her. And the other Grace is visibly showing. Sue, incredibly, still looks the same. I'm eagerly awaiting to see to swell of her tummy. hehehe Being around all these pregnant ladies and listening to them share stories of what they're experiencing makes me wish I were pregnant again too. Aric and I talked of having another one soon, but we want to at least wait until Ashlyn's close to being out of diapers. Double diaper duty is just too much for us to handle.

After the guys came in, we sat around and watched "Jamie Kennedy Experiment". We noticed that it was getting dark, and decided to head out to the lake in Woodbridge in Irvine. The place was flooded with people. Some, you can tell, set up camp early on. We got there around 10 minutes before fireworks started, and managed to get a good space, over the water, with a nice view. When the first set of fireworks began, I was afraid the thunderous boom would startle Ashlyn. She didn't even flinch. She enjoyed the flash of lights, the crackling sounds, and oohs and aahs from the crowds. Halfway through the fireworks, a group of people behind me started singing "The Star Spangled Banner". I don't know what's wrong with me, but I always get emotional hearing that song. I get goosebumps and start to tear up. It's very strange.

The finale was awesome...and blinding. I was impressed with the fireworks at Woodbridge. I would have loved to see the fireworks at Disneyland, but I'm sure that would have been crowded and chaotic. Last year for the 4th of July, Aric and I had a BBQ at our house and a group of us rushed to see fireworks over by Tustin High School. We didn't make it...the fireworks began, so we pulled over and stood in the parking lot of a liquor store. *ghetto* HAHAHAHA!

We headed back to Ed and Sue's after it was over. We ate and hung out some more, then everyone headed home. Some people (Aric included) have a regular work day tomorrow. Ashlyn was way tired and fell asleep on the way home. We decided to let her sleep and skip changing her into her pjs.
